Clashes, Regionalism & Being Indian

Assam burns. Yet again. Not owing to any ethnic clashes between "illegal migrants" and "son of the soil", but factional fights between two races ( the Nagas and the Assamese in this case). The same so called "brothers of the north east" , who waste no time for unified candle light marches in Jantar Manar whenever an incident of discrimination or injustice is meted out to any fellow brother of the region in Delhi - they are up in arms in their own territory.

Folks say - This is politics. Politicians are cropping this issue up to gain mileage. Rubbish, I say. Even if that had an iota of truth, politics, after all, is just a mirror image of the of the society at large. This whole issue is all about Chauvinism. About this new found attitude of new age India built upon intolerance. The Idea of "We are better than the rest" . In Delhi, we say "Uh we are from such a cosmopolitan culture. What would the north Indians know" Back in north east, "The Assamese thinks he is better than the nagas , and vice -versa" And subconsciously, a false sense of superiority creeps up - which gets manifested in different forms . N this is not limited to NE alone. While in Maharashtra you would hear "Maharastrians are a class apart ( n they willl rhyme out all names from, Tendulkar to Mangeshkar), Kolkata main "What bengal thinks today, India thinks tomorrow attitude". Everywhere, an ingrained attitude has crept up in the sub groups - "We are better than the rest" This chauvinism in all likelihood helps to satisfy a alter ego, probably helping in developing a false sense of superiority. And this chauvinism doesnot end in that subgroup. If some from Delhi has satisfied himself with "Punjabis are better than rest debate" , the next fight would be on "Amritsari Punjabis are better than the Chandigarh ones" . Only when we are abroad , do we think as Indians, but that too in the context of "Indians are better than the west in this and that" . Nobody thinks like "iNDIANS are good, but Brits are good too in their own way too" . Just like a Punjabi wont think " Our culture is good, but so is the culture of the Tamils" . Its just a mad race of one upmanship - and finding out faults with the others- which consciously gets exploited in Incidents like the one happening in Assam. I am not too sure if I am making any sense in the post - but false illusions of superiority
( n this is crept right from school - remember how our school was always better than "theirs", but while within school " our "house" was better than the other "houses") is just creating lot of animosity. Its festering chauvinism, and the whole bunch of terrorism based activities ( be it ULFA in Assam, or the Khalistan proponents of Punjab) is just a manifestation of this. Its high time we build the foundations of more pluralistic, contended society without any air of false illusions. Every race has good people and positive aspects, every race has bad people and negative aspects. Let not fight for one upmanship over here. Period.

Ho raha kya Bharat Nirman...?

How much money does one woman bring, before you call her a wife ?
How many times do you murder in a womb, before you give a daughter, life ?
How many times do you use rape as a tool, in course of a civil strife ?

The answer, my friend, is nowhere in the wind
The answer is just not blowing in the wind

How many years do one women exist, subjected to some beast's savagery ?
How many years do one girl exist , before she is allowed her liberty ?
How many times does a minister look up, and pretend he just doesn't see ?

The answer, my friend, is nowhere in the wind
The answer is just not blowing in the wind

How many ears do some people need, to hear many a girls cry ?
How many rapes do we need, till we know, that too many women have died ?
What more do the exploited wait for, before they get justice as a reply ?

The answer, my friend, is nowhere in the wind
The answer is just not blowing in the wind

(A note on Urban India's total apathy to the inhumanity that is happening all around - Inspired from , & loosely based on Bob Dylan's "Blowing in the wind")

A Tale Of The First Crush

I was aged 12, when I fell for my first major crush
Emotions don’t look at age, taking control through an unplanned rush
I may have been a kid – but my mind didn’t care
The flame of love just couldn’t just be put out in a flush!

Every Morning, I caught her glimpse in the school bus
The glimpse was so entrenched; I could hardly concentrate in my class
My Mom was a sweetheart, though ruing my total neglect of studies
Every time the results came, she started creating a fuss.

Like all boys back then, Sachin & cricket used to bring my life to a halt
With the arrival of this girl, was there any option but to put study into a safe vault?

Every time I said a “Hi”, and exchanged a handshake
My mind used to sway away, fantasies it used to rake
Was I just a friend, or were my feelings being reciprocated?
Or did she not think about it at all – with me indulging in a mindless mistake?

An outstanding student she was, maybe a little insane.
Whenever a little offended, she was difficult to rein
For me,  I had something to look forward to while going to school
To feign pretexts to strike a conversation, but mostly in vain.

But like all one sided puppy love, this too came to an end
Me getting immersed in life’s grind, swayed away by nature’s invisible hand.

In a distant land, a decade & half later, I was walking by a mall
I saw a married couple, the girl very pretty and tall
I could figure her out by her smile, as she yelled out to me with joy
A little shy, I walked across – just to engage in a solemn call

She said “So what if we have grown up, don’t indulge in this formal fuss
Treat me like that little girl you travelled with in the school bus”

As I bid her goodbye, I smile back reminiscing the good old days
As silly as they might seem, how wondrous is nature’s maze
That somebody can emerge out of a long lost labyrinth of the past
To make me muse over a school bus which never ceased to amaze.

(P.S. - Not a true story. Could not help penning this after seeing few videos in youtube)

The State of a bewildered mind

(Note - This poem is very nostalgic for me- yet now it seems all amateurish. I wrote it way back in my college days, so may sound cheesy for obvious reasons :-D)

This days, when from college I return

My mind meanders, in solitude it burns

Enduringly dumbfounded , in life's twist and turns

Why do I think of you now , when its all bygone?

The views from my terrace, In the early hours of night

The flights ferrying people, flocking in great height

My thoughts drifting directionless, like an abandoned kite

I now realise ,I am missing you allright!

Glaring moments, just adding to my plight

The time that we fought, and you cried all night

The January morning dew, my arrival at your door with flowers bright

When you bid me adieu , with a hug long and tight.

Then I think of your gaze, with the fleeting zoom

My thoughts get frozen, to nature does it loom

The sun is in smiles, and the  flowers starts to bloom

A sudden thrill now takes over the gloom

Your mere touch, brings a fresh autumn spell

The radiance of your presence makes lightning fall pale

Even your name luminates a glow, a fire unquelled

A creation ,per se,unparallel.

When you told me today, we got to move on

Only than that I realised, I took you granted for long

The confusion did exist before- that I want you with me along

Now its overtly translucent - I want you in this journey lifelong

Compatibility is a evolution, and future a state of trance

If there is a scope, I plead to give another glance
I cant impose or squabble, whatever be your stance

All I pray for , is a second chance

The Laymen's perspective - Delhi University and the Indian skill story

1) For starters, we Indians place too much importance on education that is imparted on classrooms - so much so that any knowledge acquired outside the classroom is considered no knowledge at all. The Smriti Irani episode is a case in point - What if she was substantially articulate and well informed than a mass of the educated elite - that she didnot have a degree was considered fit enough to disqualify her from her political footing.
2) The duration of the course is hardly a point of debate - its the quality and the sync with its ultimate objective that matters. Harvard/MIT Sloan teaches management - comprising a multitude of business disciplines - to mostly engineers (without a base in management education) in 2 years straight - and many of them evolve to be eminent professionals in their own right
3) The education system in India suffers from a trait which I call the "absence of encirclement" - it doesn't encircle the end objectives even to the smallest degree. So we end up having professors who have no links to the industry , courses which has no exposure to the industry.....and the divergence between what the industry requires and what is taught produces ridiculously unemployable graduates.
4) There are two factors which the government has to work on at priority if we aspire to be a sustainable economy. Short term growth is of little consequence - we may do that tweaking around with FDI flows and relaxed tax regimes - but they are more like the medications for temporary relief than the actual cure of the core problem. FDI flows and tax regimes are just making us more vulnerable to policy dependence - which sooner or later will come to haunt us.
4.1 ) Firstly, we have to gradually change our mindset and make a paradigm shift from being a service intensive economy to manufacturing intensive economy.Currently Services sector contributes to around 55 % of India GDP and Manufacturing sector contributes to around 15 % . Service sector , in India particularly, is the resultant of the classic economical "Law of Comparative advantage". In ordinary language, comparative advantage refers to the ability of a country to produce a particular good or service at a lower marginal and opportunity cost over another. We had the blessings of more than a couple of competitive advantages - which blended perfectly - to deliver the boom in the services sector. We were a low wage country - so we cost a fraction of getting something done vis a vis a developed country, we had a huge English speaking crowd, we had destinations which were pretty cheap etc etc. But comparative advantage has a problem - it can never be permanent. What India needed a thrust during that growth stage - was focus on moving up the value chain - for eg, moving up from low level maintenance projects to high end product development in IT, develop our workforce  to be multi lingual, develop world class tourist destinations - which would have evolved this into SUSTAINABLE COMPETITIVE advantage. We didnot do that. Now China & Philippines is emphasizing hard on the english speaking crowd, Germany and Poland focusing on Tech expertise - and the developing Economy gradually removing our benefit of low cost of economy - hence the comparative advantage of service  will slowly wane. The advantage of the manufacturing sector is exactly the opposite - its huge prospect on falling back on India's huge population rather than being dependent on extrinsic global factors. When MNC's are reaching out to the absolute bottom of the pyramid that lies in Rural India, imagine the market if we were to harness our marketing potential. So many people, all at different income levels, with varied needs, all prospective customers of some product or the other.Manufacturing has another advantage  - 70% of India depends on Agriculture, and more than half of it is actually disguised unemployment  i.e.You dont need so many people in the field, but they work there as they have no other skills. This kind of leads to a state of diminishing returns. The advantage that manufacturing sector brings is the employ-ability of  the unskilled workers - unlike the services sectors which is is more tilted towards the educated class
4.2) Secondly, start teaching English from Primary level even in public school's - I say make it the medium of instruction. Let this be an objective to transform English into our competitive advantage...this will go even further to reduce the omnipresent class divide between the English and non English speaking masses. If everybody is on one page, the lack of self confidence of the under privileged masses will slowly disappear....and  this alone will bring an equitable development (rather than doling out vote bank incentives).

Maggi aint just name of a noodle

Like the glow of a stemming fire, litting up my hungered maze
Blooming like the lotus in a pond , a Lazy loafers all time graze
The Memoirs of comin back after tuition, and of school in autumn haze
Nostalgia of a long lost roommate , rekindling the college days
                   - What would I do without you,"Nestle" Maggi ??

When the evening dawns

When the evening shrouds the light
The rays of the moon glitters the night
When the birds flock back in a far off height
I get reminded of a distant time

The inquiring mind comes to term with life
The exhausted soul engulfed in some mysterious strife
Nostalgia pricks me, with the likes of a knife
My eyes drain out, with tears rife

It happens often, when the evening shrouds the light
That I get reminded of a distant time

One fine noon,a gush of wind blows
The heaven opens its gate, and torrential rain flows
The odour of the soil catch me very close
And in the boisterous sky, radiant lightning glows

And While I gaze at the  thunder in the sky
To a distant land does my mind fly.

The autumn mornings arrive, with its foggy haze
The sweet fragrance of roses, strewn in the nature's raze
Flying my mind back to  those juvenile days
The walk in the eveninigs in the street lamp rays

My emotions dismay me now  ,like the lost fragrance of the rose
The fog becoming tears, through my eye it flows.

It happens often, when the evening shrouds the light
That I get reminded of a distant time

Sulagna Sharma...such is life!!!

The Gorgeous Sulagna Sharma of Bhayender,Mumbai
Of Late, Have you been fine ?
Guess you fairly know by now
You are the lone one who makes my tounge tied

The prime time news makes my mind meander
Society on the verge of a civil strife
Wonder if perpetual peace at the sea would last
Lest the twinkling stars rage with vigorous rife.

Sulagna, the bird in me is anxious to hover
To fish in the pond of your pride
Scavenging through the mystic mesmerizing traits
Picking up the arrogance to keep it by my side

To clean  up the muddled clothes of my heart
Giving coherance to the intriguing debates
Like the waves splashing all over
The calmness preluding , as its bait

Whats do you like more - Breezer or Chocolate Devil ?
Who do you like more - Metallica or Linking park ?
Poverty in my nation is like the Taimurs sword
And you , for me,  the illuminating light in the dark

Coz Even if this nation has world's largest child labour force
Poverty, Malnourishment - A mess galore
You are like the history we rave about all day
With very little facts , and whole lot folklore

Have you heard of the fortress called Bastille ?
Of the birth of Democracy , of the third estate's thwart ?
Of La Marseillaise, and bare foot peasents
Fighting an empire with blood laden heart

Hope, therby, is the essence of all beginning
Of love , of change , of all human rupture
Even the carefree, jovial outlook towards misery
And optimism of a painfree departure

One day even you would depart
First from my life, and slowly from my mind
Only to re-emerge in the days of yore
With unscatched nostalgia - of a charming kind.

And me , I would probably get back to the tabboo's rife
Settle, indulge, and then crib about the society's strife
Yearning for more, with little botheration
Cant help it , such is life !!!
(Sulagna Sharma , in here is a fictonal imaginary character. The poem is a renidition of quite a few inspirations that I have had so far . )

WHEN LIFE STANDS STILL

Baby Aint the sky beautiful
Radiant with the sparkling stars;
Even more enthralling is the paradise of my dreams
Featuring the Indisputable princess that you are.

So what that you moved across
To a distant land so far;
Yet I keep on bumping into you
Frequently ,In my recurring dreamy reverie.

As a flurry of breeze , and the colorful blossom
Proclaim the arrival of spring;
Was this not the season for youthful indulgence
Be it in love, liason or even just a fling ?

How I yearn that you were here now
Hogging those Pizzas in an grandeur mall;
A big long hug, and a soft little peck
And the endless blabber , in an midnight call.

The restless mind affirms the unfathomable love,
the extent of which cannot be told;
Will anyone ever be able to quantify
How much water does the Pacific hold ?

Try and find another soul
Who loves you with more zeal and fervor,
And comprehends better all the craving
That your mind and heart persists to harbour

The birds, the tree's , even the rays of sun
Everything suddenly portends a plight
Even they grumble about your everlasting absence
Aggravating the void, night after night.

Akin to the optimism of a desert gypsy
Searchin for an oasis amidst the sand,
I hope and pray against all odds,
There's no split till times end.

Romance,True Love &Heartbreak – My Two Cents - Part 2

(Continued from where I left)

But then, it still does not answer the question : - Why are people really serious with someone at some stage, and casual at others?

The answer lies in the fact that deficiency needs of human being,as explained by Maslow, are not always mutually exclusive. So at some point of time you get into a relationship because subconsciously there is a crave for affection/attention or there is a crave for physical satisfaction. But at other times, the signal from the hormones indicate that one particular individual is able to meet most or all of the deficiency needs : namely esteem (meeting with the norms of the requirements of one’s society or peer group),love, safety (financial, physical, emotional etc etc..),and physical. The more the needs are met at an optimum level, the higher the level of attachment.

So why does heartbreak causes turmoil, sometimes longing for ages?? Before this question is answered, we have to get one fact straight – The 4 deficiency needs of every individual vary, and is dependent on the socio-cultural environment he is exposed to. Heartbreak’s cause a void, because suddenly u find that there is no one to cater to your deficiency needs as sought by your body.So you might find someone who meets your esteem needs in the way you seek, but not your safety needs. And because it is so difficult to find someone who is same or better to meet all your deficiency needs, there is a heartbreak.Twist and modify whatever I wrote, and you would understand why people sometimes fall in love with someone else, though they were involved in what they considered was a serious relationship. Its just that the new person is able to meet her deficiency needs in a more optimum manner.

To cut the story short – there is nothing called true love.Nor is there anything called love at first sight, no matter however romantic it might sound. What might exist is lust at first sight.Sigmund Freud, the father of modern psychology, had explained the same way back in the 19th century. When a guy sees a girl, subconsciously, he is just trying to find out how compatible the other person is with him in the bed.Crushes/Infatutions are just sexual desires getting transformed into primary motivational energy of human life. And love is all about meeting your deficiency needs.

Romance, True Love &Heartbreak – My Two Cents - part 1

In the very early hours of today morning (not too sure if it would be appropriate to refer to it as a morning in true sense though, I had not even hit the bed then), I was in for a pleasant surprise. It was a phone call from one of my long lost close buddies. She was one of my best friends during my tenure in Kolkata, until she decided to move to Bangalore to pursue her post graduation. I moved to Delhi shortly thereafter, and with the passage of time, the bonds of friendship thinned out. We had committed at some point of time to be the best of friends forever, but forever is a long time, much longer than the couple of blissful years I had spent in the city of joy. A galore of misunderstandings emerged (not too sure if she would agree with this:-D), a couple of verbal fights for nonsensical reasons evolved out of nowhere, thus leading to a reduction of one friend in my face book friends list.18 months passed by. I did try to get in touch with her more than a couple of times, but her bellyaching disgruntlement stood firm.
N then came her call. To be honest, it was not completely out of the blue. I wanted to wish her on her birthday, but I was on a trekking vacation with virtually no access to a phone – Hence I sent her a message conveying my regards once I was back. She could not figure out the source of the message, and gave me a call. And thus began our conversation. In the good old days, our conversation was limited to nonsensical matters of minute importance: matters which are probably less trivial than the hairs oozing out from the left side of your nose. But in the very first couple of minutes, I could easily figure out that the passage of time has evolved her into a graceful matured young lady, with a hint of sophistication embedded (I m not too sure if I can say the same about me though). We spoke for some duration, and about a plethora of things, but let’s leave that for another day. One point she made did leave a dent in mind though - when she spoke to me in melancholic detail about her boyfriend and their break up, on how she was cocksure he was her true love and how she could never find anyone who could match up to him, and how the impact of his affliction would never continue to evade her.In other words, he was her Mr. Perfect, and she could not come to terms with the fact that they were no longer together. He could not be replicated, she sensed…and I could figure out that she perceived that anybody she would get involved with would be a mere “compromise”, or so she thought.
You know, this is the problem with guys like me. I need to go to the toilet but I don't say 'Excuse me' and go away. Instead I start with a story about the time when a two year old me pissed in my aunt's lap so hard she almost suffered from multiple thigh fractures .Then I continue to talk about my aunt and her husband who worked in NASA and somehow the entire talk ends in stuff like 'Is there life outside earth' and I completely forget that I need to go to the toilet. So I will rephrase all that I have so stupidly said – Does True Love exists? Why are people not rational when it comes to romance? Is there actually a thing called Love?
Now for a guy like me, whose exposure to successful relationship is as high as the number of intellectually stimulating movies Salman Khan has acted in, I am not too sure why I am even penning this down in the first place. But if u ask me what is Love, Love to me is just another synonym for attachment. You love your parents because you are emotionally attached to them. You have been groomed in that environment where your parents had a major part to play in the way you shape up; hence a bonding evolved over a period of time. Imagine a guy who got lost in some Kumbh ka Mela as a kid, and meets his original parents after 30 years – Do you think he would have that attachment?.Probably he would be more close to his foster parents who played the part of nurturing him.In the developed nations, the attachment therefore is considerably less: - As kids are encouraged to develop a sense of independence right from a tender age. Our society is more built on the foundations of family orientations, hence a closer attachment gets inbuilt over time in the subconscious mind. The same reason can be attributed to the love towards one’s pet – U have developed a bonding, an attachment towards him over some time. Hence, after his demise, a void fills in...Something which can’t be replicated by any other pet. The moral of the story – There is nothing called true love. Love is an acquired phenomenon, an attachment your brain has got acclimatized to over a period of time.
Now let’s come to some other fundamental questions. Why then do people get really serious with some, and are only casually involved with some, at different stages of his life? What distinguishes between the two? .In 1943, a famous psychologist named Abraham Maslow came out with a classic paper named “A theory of Human Motivation”. This paper became the basis of development psychology as we know it today. More on his theory can be read here - http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Maslow%27s_hierarchy_of_needs.
In his paper, Maslow segregated the most fundamental needs of human beings into four layers which are called “deficiency needs”, namely esteem, friendship and love, security, and physical needs. Human beings by nature are social animals, and feel the need of belongingness. This need for belongingness inadvertently results into two intrinsic requirements – 1) The need to be in accordance with the ethos laid out by society and family, and at same time meeting the peer pressure requirements of one’s social circle 2) The desire to be paid attention, care. Thus, in Indian society, though the desire to be attended to by a prince charming did exist even earlier, Love was considered a taboo….and the pressure of social ethos led to ladies of that era not crossing the so called forbidden line of indulging in romance. But as society evolved, the desire to be paid attention and care, and the cool quotient of being in “Love” sublimed subconsciously in the psyche of the present day urban Indian. Hence the rise in relationships.
(To be continued..)

Random Bakwaas....

As the world discusses on more trivial issues ,including topics like " was bharat bandh necessitated" , "are the blue whales gonna survive from the jaws of extinction, thanks to the wrath of Global warming", and better still, some of the guys in my hostel discusses on which of the chicks in the new batch has the best "statistics", I crunch on some Hide n Seek Biscuits in this hour - n write stuff which are probably less important than the dirt in the nail of ur index finger of your left hand.

Like a good masoom seedha saadha Indian Citizen , I should warn you beforehand – Highly senseless and Hindi ridden post ahead. You better watch TV instead.Or watch the pirated copy of the utter gibberish "I hate love stories". If you are still readin this,am sure u r the kinda person who has nothing better to do to kill time, except maybe counting the number of keys in the keyboard.N maybe you have gone tired of that too...

The views expressed are entirely and stupidly MINE , intent is not to offend anyone , but just to express my amusement.

I am kinda bewildered by the exotic breed of guys who continue to amaze me with their amazingly low sense of self respect and amazingly high need to talk to a girl.I mean , as I was discussing wid one of my classmates yesterday, they probably would give away one eye, one kidney and one hand away just to have a girlfriend.

I guess they must be going around pleading “please talk to me” before electric poles in some time . I mean, I don’t know if girls like such guys , but if I would have been a girl , I would have been like “Abbe , itna desperate kyun hai mere laal ?

Mebbe this is like an acquired obsession , thanks to our our media in general, and hindi fillum industry in particluar, which portrays of havin a girlfriend as a "kool" thing,n without which u r an outcast ...or mebbe its just a response of the sexual libido which has been cravin for a release in the way it is naturally meant to be....but wotever be it - I find the whole thing nothin short of grave dementia

Now on to some data , revealed by some extensive market research in orkut, facebook, blogs, and community forums, extensively dedicated to a part of this breed of gentlemen who are exclusively found on social networking sites

1) Salaam... u look so cute...u look sort of simplicity...wana be my friend...( No thank you , and if I look ‘sort of simplicity’ , you look ‘sort of stupidity’ )

2) friend so sweet as me
u wont have else 2 see
wanna have an awesome twosome rap
then drop a word in my little scrap.
hi, love to have me ur friend?
u'll be gettin such sweeties ,i send

( Arre Baba Sehgal jee , aap internet par ? )

3) hello mam u havent told me abt what ur doing....
i m not like all guy present here in ur scrap book.....if u r intrested in reply then only i'll write u scrap more....otherwise i wont write u ny more...
so dear just like a good frd tell me something.......

( Hai allah , kitna self esteem se bharpooor ladka hai , subhaan allah ! )

4)Hi....hand of friendship......wanna hold? :)

( Hand of friendship ? Uee ma ! What happened to your own hands ? )

5) hi
what r u dooing now a days bcoz u stopped scapping me please reply i'll wait four your reply

( It is so moving to hear that you would wait four me. I will wait five you )

And btw, this also brings me down to another important question..
One thing I don't get is that why people put up pictures of filmstars as their profile pics . I know my picture can induce bed wetting in kids upto eleven years old , but putting up a Salmaan Khan pic as my profile pic is like saying "Ok . This is me . I know the guy who starred in Hum aapke hain kaun resembles me ." And I sure won't look at some girl's profile pic and say "WoW !!! Katrina Kaif is on my friends friend's list in facebook !!".

Anyways,It was fun writing wotever I wrote.Sense mat dhoond - Milega nahi.I will take your leave and read some Jughead comic before going to sleep. And the next time u get bored of counting the keys in ur keyboard, drop in "Hi , i want to build friendship to you' liners in some profiles of Orkut having Katrina as their profile pic.Bataa phir teri nayi girlfriend bani ki nahii..

A Tribute to the Wonder Years...

Once upon a time there was a girl I knew, who lived in an hour's journey from my home. Black hair, brown eyes. When she smiled, I smiled. When she cried, I cried. Every single thing that ever happened to me that mattered, in some way had to do with her.And one day, me and the girl promised each other that no matter what, we'd always be together. It was a promise full of passion and wisdom. It was the kind of promise that can only come from the hearts of the very young.

All our young lives we search for someone to love. Someone who makes us complete. We choose partners and change partners. We dance to a song of heartbreak and hope... all the while wondering if somewhere, somehow, there's someone perfect... who might be searching for us.

Over the course of the average lifetime you meet a lot of people. Some of them stick with you through thick and thin. Some weave their way through your life and disappear forever. But once in a while someone comes along who earns a permanent place in your heart.Like a lot of someone's.Like in a lot of " once in a while"

Growing up is never easy. It never was , n would never be.You fight to hold on. You fight to let go. You hold on to things that were. You wonder what's to come.

But one fine evening, I think I knew it was time to let go of what had been, and look ahead to what would be. Other days. New days. Days to come. The thing is, we didn't have to hate each other for getting older. We just had to forgive ourselves... for growing old.

I Remember the rains of the younger years. Of those carefree ,reckless days. When I went out with my friends , and splashed the mud on each other's trousers. When 4 boys smoked one cigarette, with one of us giving gaurd, and yet a fear hoverin in your mind of elders comin to kno bout ur misadventures. When one of my female fren whispered "" To be a bitch or not to be a bitch, that is the question", and I could not stop thinking bout that whisper for 3 days straight.

It's doesn't matter what you say about somebody once they're gone. What matters is how you treat them when they're still here.

Life has taught all of us few lessons. But can nething be of a higher significance than a message dribbled out from some events that causes a dent in ur heart - a message that says " the only person you can trust in this world is yourself"

But no matter what life teaches, memories remain. And they Remains etched in the core of the heart. And slowly U realise how priceless this memories are .The sight of a gal's milky white delicate fingers ,with the long black nails, cuttin across a cheese burst pizza, and gorging it into her mouth. The wonder in her eyes ,reflecting the pleasure she derives out of that pizzam would probably kill a thousand of innocent kids just by the sheer magnitude of its innate beauty .

Growing up happens in a heartbeat. One day you're in diapers, the next day you're gone. But the memories of the "coming of age" years stay with you for the long haul. I remember a place, a town, a house, like a lot of houses. A yard like a lot of other yards. On a street like a lot of other streets. And the thing is, after all these years, I still look back...with wonder

Malicious Gossips

1)Some time back, a consulting company, for some inexplicable reasons, decided to offer me the profile of " Management Consultation & Valuation" for my summer internship project. Now my friends would vow by the fact that me being a management consultant is akin Laloo Prasad Yadav running a "Yadav Insitute of Spoken English". Judging by the very fact that the interview panel, which comprised of their senior consultants, decided to recruit me as a consultant, speaks volumes of their efficiency levels, and how only a miracle can now save the world from another global recession - given the way this consulting firms are operating.

2)I wont name the company which has made the export quality decision of recruiting me as a intern though.Yeah , am scared that they might employ some Jasoos who might then find how I am trying to mix the company's "naam" in "mitti" , and how I mite be told by my boss "Aap ke liye yaha koyi jagaa nahi hain" in the very first day of office. But more than that, am scared of the placecom team (Read - Placement committee team) of my college. They have this habit of levying fine on anything and everything when it comes to their notion of relationships with companies.Last time, a Peon from Uncle Chips came to give some letter, and I was fined as I did not call him sir,and offer him tea while collecting the letter. And the amount of money they make collecting fines is more than the yearly revenue of Indian Railways.Infact, couple of years back , one of the garib students had to sell one of his kidneys to pay the fine that was levied on him.And when I Once asked one of those placements guys on what is being done with the money collected through fine, he said he cant let me know.Hindi films have taught me over the years that if somebody doesnot disclose about where his money is going, he is definitely involved in smuggling.I will complain about this smuggling to CBI, once I get placed next year.Ok, I was just bullshitting. My room mate is a place com member, and I just love to irritate him - Discard whatever I have written here - If you don't want Shruti Hasaan to be widowed before marriage that is ;-)

3) And suddenly, the realization that am using bullet points even in a blog, should make u enlightened that am getting used to the life of an MBA student. Infact, such is the internalization, that the last time I wanted some money from my dad , I made a power point presentation, gave him a cost benefit and ROI analysis, and thus concluded how giving me the money is the wisest decision he has ever made

4)Last year, there was huge campaign run by Indian Railways with the punch line "160 years of bringing people closer".Now, this was one commercial I agree with unequivocally.Think of it - When the train services started in India somewhere in the 1860's , you hardly had any Indians who could afford the luxury of railways. And now , the moment you enter a Mumbai Local, you are virtually left in the lurch to find even a tiny bit of space in the compartment, where u can cramp n somehow survive the journey.Even ur wife wont be as physically close to you in the bed , when you compare it with the physical proximity of one and his co passenger in a peak hour virar local.See - 160 years of bringing people closer indeed.

5) Coming back to b schools, spend 2 days out here, and you start perceiving that everybody is vying for a job in Economic Times.I mean, people out here just need an opportunity to flaunt how their knowledge on recent economic topics are better than the economic adviser of India. To read economic times every morning is considered to be as necessary as attending to one's nature's call, and non-compliance leads you to be considered a someone having the intellect level of an American Super Model.Budget aaya ki nahin is baar - mails were floating from one direction to the other - As if ye koi budget nahin, Katrina Kaif ka Swayambar ka Invitation ho.N for lesser mortals of my stature, whose interest in newspapers have never proceeded beyond the "Delhi Times" supplement of Times Of India, the situation is like that of that a "kushti" competition happening in a local "akhada" which is happening synchronously with the IPL,thereby not generating even an iota of attention ;-)

6) I really find Shruti Hasaan Cute.N by that,I do mean in no uncertain terms that shez really really hot n gorgeous( Question out of curiosity - Why do north Indians have this habit to use the same adjectives multiple times to stress a point?? Does it come from the tradition of shouting "BUM BHOLE" OR "RAJA RAMCHANDRA KI JAI" a billion times during this religious festivals, so much so ki any ENT specialist in the town makes a fortune the next week out of ailing ear patients). So any kind human being whoz even remotely associated with her, and who cares bout my "sukhi zindagi do baal bacche samet" is welcome to get her rishta fixed with this sharif banda .Btw, keeping illusions aside, I found out her birthday to be on 28th Jan, which itself scares the shit outa me.I mean, the last time I was into a relationship with some female who was born on 28th jan, it resulted in such a huge disaster - that if I start tellin you the tale, by the time I reach the half way mark - my room would already have had a flood of the scale of the floods in Bihar last year, courtesy your tears. But koyi nahi puttar, people have experienced world war 2, people of have experienced someone cheating on you, people have experienced some one ensuring you are left with a big dent in your bank balance, and definitely your heart - and then act before their frenz that they never were involved, and the victim was actually the perpetrator who had made up the story - People, in short, have experienced the scariest things in life, and I am not the only one I know

7) And staying with the drift, one of my frenz ( Lets call him Veeru, a tribute to the immortal Dharmendra role in Sholay) is really upset this days. Here is the story.Veeru notices that Jai has put a modified version of a status message, which had been influenced by a girl, who again as tribute to the great epic of all times,I am going to refer as Sita. Now, Veeru tells Sita that her status message in GTALK is inspiring quite a few people.Sita replies with something like "Jai's message are sometime provocative".Now,when I was in school, my highest marks in my Moral Science paper was 20 outta 50.That too happened coz Moral Science was inevitably taught by the "father's" (From those hailing from Timbaktoo, this father's had no kids. They were infact catholic priest's who were barred from indulging in any activity which could have resulted in production of kids),who believed in the concept of not failing one in his tender years. Thus he always ended up giving enough grace marks to me.Only Once did I score a 40 - that time, the paper was out of 100.So, keeping with the tradition, I kinda told Veeru to tell Jai ki Sita told his messages were provocative. And he relented after lot of convincing. And bang changed Jai's status message - Ki his messages were provocative as it was meant to provoke one to think. When Sita noticed, some childish fight broke off between the two regarding some breach of trust and some such crap - as if koyi silly argument nahin, Kashmir ka discussion ho raha ho India Pakistan ke beech. Now guys, if you are reading this - It was all coz of me, so eradicate the cold vibes between you two.I kinda did this jus for fun - n I hope both of you understand I didn't mean any animosity.

8) N before I bid adieu, It seems tributing one's achievement to some is really considered in this days.Shahrukh tributes the success of his film to all Indians,Ambani tributes his success to his father - So lemme waste no to add my name in this grandiose list , and tribute this blog full of gibberish to the only living legend I am aware of for capturing the passion of a progressive nation, and becoming the first batsman in history to score a double hundred in limited over's cricket - ~~~~Bows down to the legend~~~~

The Plight of a d-grader

After readin my previous posts, you might be wondering how some one can b so abysmally stupid n thick headed, so much so that even Rakhi Sawant's swayambar Eelesh falls pale in comparison. But this illusion to you, of me being the absolute extreme of brainless homosapiens on earth, has happened to you probably because you have not met my roommate.Uh - what Astuteness, wot acumen, wot sagacity .N jus for HIS clarification if he is reading this - Sagacity is not the name of any city in the US.Dictionary.com main meaning search kar.Such is his level of aptitude ,that till recently, he thought Dandi March was some form of Dandiya Competition in Gujrat in which Mahatma Gandhi had participated. And he still believes that Sidney Sheldon is a female who lives in Sydney.Yesterday he was askin me weather that gal Sheldon had any role in orchestrating racial abuse against Indians.N now, Ladies n Gentleman, to give u a short illustration of the creative craft ship and intellectual brilliance of the genius I have been raving about, let me have the honour to present before u a small poem which he has composed

Disclaimer - Please ensure any object where you might bang your head on is not in close proximity before you start to read the poem .Further, do see to that you have a couple of nervous breakdown pills handy. We are not liable for any damage in the computer screen if you decide to smash it after you have read the poem. And if you do decide on committing suicide, ensure you write a suicide note stating that you read the poem fully aware of warnings given beforehand, and hence, we are not to be prosecuted

The poem is called "D- Grader", dedicated to all those b skoolers whose interest in studies is as great as Mamta Banerjee's interest in America's domestic rugby season. And for those who just arrived from a stay in the thick forest of Arizona, a b skool is a term used for Business Schools, and students out here are graded relatively to one another on a scale of 4.33.Anything above 3.66 is A, and anything below 1.66 is D....B & C in between those ranges.

So after these moronic descriptions and non- sensical details, letz finally get started with the poem :

Cigarette on one hand and on another a cup of tea
I glanced at my marksheet which showed yet another 'D'
I wonder why when the class average is 3, I still get a D
Then i realise that if not for my D,the class average would have been 3.3

As soon as i saw my marksheet , i wanted to pee
As i had a lot of beer ,with biryani which had no ghee
I dont know wot to do now except watching few more movies of Bruce Lee
Or maybe, like Gautum Buddha, go and sit under some Bodhi Tree.

But Bodh Gaya is too far fetched, I dont even have money to go to Kullu Manali
Oh God, y does such a distressing state fall upon me??
And this too when I spend so much sleepless nights, praying on my knee!!
God, do a miracle, and give some solution to thee..

How I scored well and cracked CAT is still a mystery
And then To come here n study, I paid such a hefty fee
Oh God, gimme some , atleast some easy key.
Of a life without any work, comprised of drinking beer and babe-watching by the sea

PS - As always, keepin with the tradition, please dont take me seriously.I love to exaggerate and write utter non-sense in my blog.My roommate, though a little silly, is actually an amazingly sociable, warm hearted ,highly intelligent and good humored dude. All this exaggeration was actually done coz am aiming a job at aaj tak - they wanted a practical illustration on how good I was in cooking up stories. The disclaimers though do not refute the poet of his rightful credit - The poet of this composition stands to be my room mate.

An Enduring lapse of Logic

Baba Ramdev aint that bad a guy.You lose money in betting; you are dumped by your girlfriend - who btw also decides not to return the Latest Nokia Cell phone which claims to contain everything except a washing machine & a nuclear missile launcher, and which had a cost you a fortune; you flunk in 3 papers in your term exam which comprised of 3 papers in all ; you get caught kissing your neighbour Kittu Auntyz daughter - whatever be the reason - all you need to do is hear his discourse, the perennial "Zindagi to ek maaya hain " blabber and force urself to believe in the forces of Maya,Aatma and Moksha n a few more similar yet otherwise uncomprehending concepts - n bang, you dont feel bad anymore.

So Lemme at the outset dedicate my reincarnation at Blogger to Baba Ramdev. You know, One day very soon , I might just get frustrated and decide to give a head on competition to Bill Gates - I might jus bet all my savings for Bangladesh in a world cup match against India, and unless India decides to continue on playing Ishant and Irfan Pathan, they just might win the match - me at the end of the day left with this huge "Bill", and shown the "Gate".And then I just might bump into Baba Ramdev's pravachans, and having nothing better to do, and already being kicked out of my Job, attend all his discourses and yoga aasans with full earnestness and sincerity. Who knows, I mite jus be appointed as the successor to his holiness's legacy .Cutting the story short, If such a day does dawn on earth, I might jus as well practice giving some free pravachans from this very moment - Making People believe in illusions , and that too convincingly needs huge perseverance after all!! So if you are of the types who have nothing better to do than count the numbers of keys in the keyboard all day, or who got fired from his college for flunking five times straight and hence have no job - Ensure u do communicate your feedback on how the pravachaans furnished below inspired and motivated u to do something worthwhile in life, and how your life completely transformed after this...

1 ) There's something definetly wrong with the Indian Youth - this includes me 2.I mean, the whole town has turned red owing to Valentines Day, Newspapers are dedicating supplementary specially dedicated to this day for the entire week, every second guy in college is talking bout how moral policing has turned into moron policing, the revenue generated by sales of roses in Delhi on 14th Feb is probably more than the GDP of Kenya and Zimbabwe combined - the list just goes on and on revolving the hype created around a day, concieved and marketed by some of the bestMarketing Brains of some of the finest American MNC's. Now, I do understand on how a bunch of hooligans doesnot have the right to curb our freedom of choice on the pretext of safegaurding our culture ( a culture which surprisingly boasts of Kaamasutra too), and how love is such a wonderful emotion to prevail. But Marketing of Love to this an extent?? Feb 13th was also the anniversary of Bhagat Singh, Sukhdev and Rajguru's death - we do love to rave about how they have become immortal icons for generations to come - To my surprise, I didnot even find one small column of TOI, on the same.Channels after Channels were running shows on how Muthalik's face was smeared with black paint, nobody felt it was important to telecast one single show on how a bunch of college goin kids took on an entire British Kingdom, without seeking ne self centered goals.Such a shame!!

2) Continuing on Vday, here are some excerpt on "going around" from Abhinav Jain's Blog ( This dude is a Chetan Bhagat in making - jus go thru his blog contents n u wud kno m not exaggerating - n for one, I dont wanna be another Vidhu Vinod Chopra, refuting an author of his rightful credit)

" When I was a kid , having a girlfriend meant two things about the guy :

1. The guy ranks somewhere between Matt Damon and George Clooney on the looks index. He walks by a women's college and the girls trample the professor in their hurry to run out and catch a glimpse .

2. The guy ranks somewhere between Mukesh Ambani and Richard Branson on the financial standing index. He frequently uses a hundred rupee note to wipe his nose and his bank needed to hire an extra floor to stack his cash deposits.

But now , not having a girlfriend says two things about the guy :

1. He is gay.
2. He is definitely gay.

I mean , I look around and see even convicts serving life sentences in Tihar going around in the jail premises with the female convicts from the ladies ward. Guys who aren't even close to respecting a woman have girlfriends . Even Mika has girlfriends - two of them. To be as short as Ayesha Takia's skirt , I guess most of the Indian guys in the age group of 16-30 have a girlfriend.('Tell-me-why' query - Can someone explain to me why having a girlfriend is termed "going around" ? Does it originate from the hindi films wherein Rishi Kapoor and Neetu Singh spent countless hours running in circles around trees , bushes and water fountains ?)."

And when u urself have had 4 relationships, all with endings so dreadful that probably even Devdas would look like messiah of "Happy go Lucky" chaps in comparison, you know you cant agree more with Abhinav ;-).Btw, I spent today drinking beer, and reading economic times whole day.

Chal , I gotta go to sleep now, have a guest lecture early morning tomorrow, and I gotta ensure I dont get kicked out of the class this time atleast - Ramdev baba, in management college ke professors ko bhi subhe subhe yoga karne ke faayda baatayein - kam se kam hum ko to thoda aur sone ko mil jaayega

Chalo more discourses later dis week - ciao!!

The Great desi tamasha

1) Telly - entertainment are on a all time high. One just has to zap through the various hindi channels, who incidentally seems to have taken a " Geeta pe haath rakh ke kasam " to ensure that the indian political class gets portrayed in the light which they inheritently deserve - as a source of " all bakwas and no sense " entertainment.Aaj Tak is the undisputed champion in the race though, with shows ranging from interview with Master Dinanath who used to teach Vasundhara Raje "English" in standard 4 to how Advani once fell off from his cycle to land in a heap of cowdung when he was 14.Last time I had seen the channel, it was a show named " ye kaisi dosti, ye kaisa pyar", with visuals of Amar Singh and Manmohan Singh with the song " dost dost na rahaa" playing in the background. Now you know how to save on your hard earned money on weekend movies - who needs those " gheesa peeta pyar mohabbat " when you can have export quality entertainment for free.Recession ka time hain bhai, money saved in money earned afterall.

2) And guys, just my two cents on some thoughts which I have been nurturing for the past few days. Happiness is something which we constantly pursue after, and which seems to ,more often than not, evade us.Last few months have affirmed my belief that somehow , Happiness is not necessarily directly proportional to money & fame, to IIM's & Harvard's , to beautiful cosmopolitan girlz and a stay in Hilton's .Now before you start wondering about any influence of Baba Ramdev in my life,I would rather stick to my inclination for "Kingfisher " and well cooked Pork, while laughing aloud on some third grade adult jokes of mah frenz.Maybe the word happiness is an illusion, something which you can experience only temporarily when your expectations are met.But meeting expectations in itself creates another set of expectations, which when fails, makes you suffer......

The Three IDIOTS!!

If you are wondering if I have suddenly acquired some mystique attributes of the famous propheciser Nostradamus, so much so that I suddenly have an insight into the brand new venture of Aamir Khan(caught ya' dumb heads there !!- You dont even seem to have a clue that the name of the forthcoming venture of AK is the same as the heading of this article, do ya'??) even before it has hit the production floor , havin seen all the movie ahead of time in some spooky mirror that has come under my possession, and therby all set to post a review of the same - STOP wondering rightaway. All I know about this flick is the that itz based on Chetan Bhagat's bestseller - Five Point SomeOne.And before you start wondering about the source of this statement, no, its not that I have a developed a fascination towards witchcraft to capacitate me to know the unknown, sitting all day in front of a blazing flame with with a garland made of human skulls dangling around my neck, chanting " Aabra-ka-Dabra" . Itz just that I came across this fact while navigating some blog named filmi deewane or sumthin this afternoon.( Oyeee -Swear on my neighbour's dog had nothin to do dis afternoon ...aur wo bhi galti se gaya us site pe..)

My friends have been fretting and whining for some time now that my first few articles in this blog might just lead the Indian government to seriously consider legalising euthanasia ( read - mercy killing) .And I dont blame them for that.Afterall,Bardaasht ki bhi ek had hoti hain. And from all those who have read those posts at my behest ( or rather at the blackmail of revealing those infamous secrets to their so called beloved fiances) ,without understanding the head or tail of what I was trying to illustrate therein, what else do you expect. And then this morning, when I went through my previous two posts, I suddenly realised that I might just give the image of the legendary Devdas some serious beating, if not make him look like a preacher of Love ,all geared up in his latest Provogue shirt & Adidas sneakers, to display his inherent CASANOVA alike lineament in Chandramukhi's kotha every weekend.

And It thus dawned upon me that I badly need a break ...And so i told myself - Lets just break the ice !! And lemme have a life.!!The past is past.Like those dialogues of some b grade hindi cinema of 1970's- "Wo tumahare bare main soch bhi nahin rahi hain, tum kyun apna zindagi us ke liye barbaad kar rahe ho".Unfortunately, I dont stay with one pristine mausi clad in a white sari ,akin those jurassic era movies, to whom I can pledge "Mausi,Main kuch aisa ban ke dikhaunga taki ekdin, usko apne galti ka ehsaas ho" , nor could I empower myself to directly head towards the sheltar of a talismanic street light to pursue some kind of mysterious text book, which has some miraculous endowment to transform one's life from "rags to riches" in 60 days flat!!

And thus, in pursuit of a change, I went out of my sanctimonious abode. ( read - my house whose cleanliness would probably lead to the housekeeping workers of Tihar jain lodge a dharna for an increase in salary, being convinced that they are doing a lot more justice viz a viz their salary to keep the jail cellars clean). And this is where I made a replication of the three idiots get inculcated in the general public.

Idiot no 1 - Have you seen a coffee parlour/coffee bar anywhere in India where a beautiful lass is sitting all alone, engrossed in her coffee or titbits, as if she's waiting for her prince charming, and probably indulged in a fascination of how he will come charging in a brown mustang, ignoring the brimming street lights and over flowing crowds, his only objective of life being to reach on time to ask for the lady's hand ??No?? Well, neither have I.Infact, I have never seen a cute young girl all alone in any coffee parlour , or even any food joints for that matter, for as long as I remember. But then today - I did see two , sitting all alone. Yes,Just two.Lonely two.Secluded two.And yes, mindblowing two.Gorgeous two.I can go on and on with adjectives, but then I thought,Maybe I should keep some of them reserved to describe what the two resembled like when they smiled. And smile they did.Or atleast I thought so.Until I was enlightened by the fact that they were actually giggling. And giggling at me.And then I realised, that all this while, the events around me had left me so spellbound , that I had completely dismissed the fact that I still had my helmet on.Imagine a guy in a coffee parlour who is sipping coffee with a prodigious black bucket like thing covering his forehead, as if Osama has given a contract to his militant counterparts in Kolkata to chuck off my head from the rest of my body at the earliest possible opportunity. This was akin trying impressing the interview panel in IIM - Ahmedabad ,by appearing for the interview in a yellow embroidered shirt and red trousers with purple shades on my eyes, and talkin about my interest in Bhojpuri film at every possible opportunity. Finally, another couple of adjectives have dawned upon me to describe those girls in the most befitting manner - terrifying & insensitive two.

Idiot no - 2 - Show me one alluring ,cute & delicate chick in Sector 5 ,Kolkata , and I will show you a dog who can lay eggs.I had gone to this place called azad hind for lunch( BTW,thatz the only source of gastronomical delights for all sector 5 corporate nerds in miles). And I was surprised at the favour of lady luck - Not everyday afterall do you see in this marooned place a charming young lass, not more than 23 - 24 I guess, all dressed up in Thick Black full sleeve Kurti and a skintight jeans, sitting all alone in a 6 seater table. Now, beauty can have its repurcussions - I mean why would anyone accomodate herself in a table havin the capacity to accommodate six people if she is alone, when the two seaters are all unoccupied- but then as I have already admitted, beauty can have its repurcussions .It can push someone's IQ to the single digit mark. And so, I seated myself in a table diametrically opposite to hers. And started looking at her in the eye.And she responded. And then came a kid charging in to sit on her lap.I understood the inevitable. And thankfully enough, I cancelled my order in pretext of an urgent call and rushed out.I lay emphasis on the words, "thankfully enough", as it so happened that just as I stood up from my sling to move outward,I caught a glimpse of her better half - think that guy would just have missed a chance to bag the role of Bhima in his nukkar's "Mahabharata" street play , probably coz he was just a little more heavy than what the role demanded.BTW,I couldnot help but notice the smirk in that mataji's face as I was walking out.

Idiot no 3 - The GD/PI classes for CAT 08 students triggered off in T.I.M.E this week .We had a couple of IIM GD simulations ,but I was more excited about this girl in my batch by the name of Triny Sinha :-).I mean, its not as if I am completely bonkers on her to the extent that I have vowed "Wo nahi mili to main mar jaunga" or something of that sort, or but I cant escape either from admitting the fact that she is ravishingly gorgeous. Now Chill folks!! Before my friends start pulling my legs - this is what it is - she is cute, yes and thats where the matter ends!!Its nothing like I am wondering on how to approach her, or day dreaming bout having coffee with her from the same cup with the same spoon . She doesnot even have an iota of clue that I was really impressed,if I may use the word in this context, by her personality, in the last week since we have become aware of each others name .My previous associations with the female divison of homesapiens have resulted in quite a few disastrous consequences, and it would take some replication of a Tara Reid in her younger years to convince me of another association in the days to come.Only an Idiot can not learn from his mistakes, and I ,for one, am trying hard not to be categorised as one .Btw,did I tell you guys that this lass named Trina did remind me of Tara Reid as in American Pie :-).. hope shez reading this :-)

The tale of a loser who never said die

This afternoon , when I was navigating thru different blogs, seeking some pragmatic gyan on efficaciously encountering gd/pi's of niche b schools,I happened to bump upon a a line which had a voluminous imprint in my mind. The line goes like this - "Buddha was probably wrong, the cause of all sorrows is not desires, it is this desire to judge and keeping expectations from people that causes all troubles and sorrows in this world.".I need not elaborate on what led the guy to text this lines - Thats for you to find out:-).But what moved me was the utter veracity of the statement, which strikes a chord with you instantaneously- Just think about it - If you did not have expectations- you would not leave the scope of those expectations not being met - and thus sorrow, which is an output of achievement in accordance to expectation ,would become null & void in the first place. "The easier said than done" fact is intrinsic in here, and additionally,I am also aware that there can be no life without expectations( coz then there would be no success too). But sometimes mobilising our expectations towards something which is not likely to pay the expected dividend, may have unfavourable implications. Why it happens is anybody's guess ( love, commitment blah blah..) , and maybe, as you might have already guessed, the reason I am writing this too might be due to the fact of undergoing the trauma of some serious expectations not being met, which is having its repercussions in the most adverse of ways. But then, thatz not the point. The point is - no matter who says what - why is the human mind so frail??, why is it that even after being aware that expectations might lead to failure, we still crave for greater expectations of love??. Is it that our brain just have no control on our emotions, and vice versa??If so, then me ( read - my emotions) & my mind ( read- my brain which doesnot let me have a reasonable approach ) - do they have a dual exsistence, with one having limited or no control over the other??Do they jus have a synchronised existence, but not one havin a common platform??....Questions and questions still languish in my mind, jus that my mind does not have a solution.Or Maybe, just that, It doesnot want to answer.....

P.S. - Look out for this space for a poem within the next 48 hours - my first poem in years - n one having a deep rooted meaning - Atleast to myself.

A 24 year ol' school boy

For the last 3 months or so, every saturday morning ,I wake up with the same enthusiasm and vigour as of a 16 year skool kid whose boards are due that academic season. My Life@std 10th is somehow extremely close to my heart. The Sunday morning fresh air, wakin' up @5-30 to get goin' for tutions, the never endin' test papers getting monotonus wid da same ol' problems - those were the days, my Friend... those things are as intrinsic in my memory & reminiscent of the bygone days to the extent that somehow, I grude a vengence towards God for takin them away too soon.I had never met a guy in my school days who didnot have a grudge of how life would have been a bed of roses only if the the word " academics" were to be lost for ever....and yet never met one who didnot miss his alma - mater after he passed out.The Irony of life however lies in the fact that you dont realise the beauty of anything unless you start missing it....and you start missing something only when you are completely devoid of it...this is true for all aspects of life.....this is a basic essence of human psychology...probably because when u start missing something, u tend to ignore all the facts that u used to hate when u were a part of that scheme of things...and gradually comes a point where ur mild affection for that "routine of life" culminates into a strong bonding.....this is the reason as to why we find the ideology of " first love " so attractive....probably If was pushed back to my skool days thru da advent of a time machine, I Would still crib n bicker how life was all da more fun once I passed out college..." The grass, as they say, is always greener on the other side of the fence"....my ferverent nostalgia for the skool days , has somehow its base on my so called " CAT preparation"....back again are the days when I have to wake up at 6 in the morning on saturdays, jus managin to gulp sumthin n rush to my workshop on quants, come back at 12 4 lunch and commute back at 2 for mah classes.........and if that was not enuff, this being followed by a group stude on VA ( dunno y we folks r ter, we hardly study nethin in that so called group study").....sundays are frantically hectic...with two mock exams , leadin to such a extent of degenaration of my adrenaline, leavin me completely worn out, that my bed is my lone saviour.Still I find this captivating and gratyfying- probably coz now,I am aware , that sooner than later, I will start to miss them, ignoring the fact that this period was not only composed of cycles of fun and livin independent, but also of serious serious slog which , one way or the other takes it toll. But then, such is life.
